Starting in 2025, we have funding for four new PhD students to commence each year – including one at each hub site (Aarhus University, the University of Copenhagen, the University of Oxford). PhD positions will be advertised each year, but potential applicants are encouraged to reach out to our mentors, as there is potential to create bespoke projects. Students should be motivated by undertaking research focussing on method development addressing questions posed by big data relevant to common, complex diseases. Students will be enrolled at their home university but will be encouraged to spend part of their time as a visitor at another site. Students will be encouraged to engage in SMARTbiomed activities – weekly journal clubs, annual symposiums, workshops, data hacks etc.
SMARTbiomed aims to create a dynamic international research community and offer an inspiring collaborative environment. Over its lifespan, SMARTbiomed plan to fund at least 32 PhD students and 36 postdocs.
